Review

Petra Diamonds is a leading independent diamond mining group focused on the continent of Africa. It has controlling interests in eight producing diamond mines – seven in South Africa and one in Tanzania – and an exploration programme in Botswana. It acquired its eighth South African mine, Finsch, subsequent to year-end on 14 September 2011.

Petra is focused on optimising output and growing revenues from each of its operations and is planning to increase production from just over 1.1 million carats in FY 2011 to over 5 million carats by FY 2019. The Company markets and sells its South African rough diamond production in Johannesburg and its Tanzanian production in Antwerp.

The Company has a well-diversified portfolio, incorporating the full range of kimberlite ‘hardrock’ operations, combining large underground pipe mines with low tonnage, high grade fissure mines and one large high volume open-cast mine. A high level overview of each asset is available from the interactive map below.

The Company conducts all its operations according to the highest ethical standards, and will only work in countries which are members of the Kimberley Process.

Petra has its Group Management Office in Jersey.
